Animal Whimsy quilt pattern includes full size patterns, full size placement sheets, and instructions to make a 42″ x 54″ wall hanging with twelve animal blocks and a 60 1/2″ x 96 1/2″ twin size quilt with nine animal blocks and nine pieced shoo-fly blocks. The technique to make the animal blocks is fusible applique. The block size is 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″.

This is a romantic quilt, with a collection of applique flowers surrounded by floral borders, a flying geese border and a wide striped border with sweet little applique lollipop flowers and simple stitching. The applique is done using fusible web and ironed in place before stitching around the shapes with matching thread.

This is my version of the traditional log cabin quilt which first became popular in the late 1800’s. As in the early log cabin quilts I made the centre square of each log cabin block in red to represent the hearth, the heart of the home, with the surrounding light and dark strips to represent light and shadows. It is easy to make and has always been a popular patchwork quilt since those early days of pioneers and log cabins. I used soft shades of pinks, blues and creams for a vintage feel but you could use any colours.

Bright, Fun, Alpaca Quilt Pattern. The pattern comes in multiple sizes. The main instruction is for a 36×42 crib size baby quilt, but it also comes with alternate smaller and larger sizes. The small 24×28 great for a wall hanging or as part of a larger quilt. The large 48×56 makes a great Throw quilt or add some borders to make it a twin or even center of a full bed.
This is a great pattern to get creative with your fabric choices, and to pull out your scraps with many of the details needing only 1/4 yd or less. I really enjoyed looking for the perfect cactus fabric and for the blanket over his back.
This pattern is made in the traditional Counted Quilts method. The fabric is cut into 3 size strips, then cross cut into varying lengths, labeled alphabetically. The shaping is done with half square triangles in the quick corner method. (search Counted Quilts of YouTube for instructional videos). Then you will follow a full page color “map”, labeled image, of the alpaca sewing it together piece by piece, row by row.
Making this a great quilt pattern for beginning quilters, straight cutting and straight seams. This is a 6 page color PDF format pattern.
